Partially answering my own question: whitelisting a few categories like Food and Drink, Recreation could probably catch 90% of in person transactions, with some false positives. Not sure how you'd identify the appropriate Place from foursquare data or whatever though. https://github.com/plaid/Support/blob/master/categories.md
