It's amazing what a few days can accomplish for a person. Josh got moved out of the ICU last night, now we're on the acute cardiac care floor--one step closer to coming home. He finally managed to calm down as all the sedation meds wore off. He slept straight from noon Friday to Saturday morning. I even managed to catch a few winks. His first chest draining tubes came out yesterday, which helps him feel more comfortable. The remaining ones came out this morning. Now they say he should start feeling even better. We haven't yet started seeing any signs of his real personality. But they say as he's disconnected from more stuff, he'll get back to his old self. He's still connected to an external pacemaker--apparently his arrhythmia isn't related to the anesthesia, darn it!--but the pacemaker has been set on backup since Sunday morning, so if his heart rate drops below a certain level the pacemaker would kick in. So far, it hasn't had to kick in, so yeah!! They're talking about getting that off him and pulling out the pacer wires tomorrow. So far they still say he's doing as expected, which is good. And today, they want him up and moving and playing in the play room, so that's where we'll be heading after his nap.
