Well, it went good and bad. The trip to Spokane is about a 5 hr drive..normally. But with picking up mom and dad in Anaconda and my son needing to pee a lot (I'm counting my blessings he wanted a toilet!), it was a much longer trip. I must say though..my kids were awesome! Very well mannered, very little chaos and they handled the long trip there and back better than many adults I know. I'd certainly take them again by myself (I can say that cuz trust me, my parents were higher maintenance to me than my kids and they definitely couldn't help me with the kids).
So we get there Thursday night...the kids get to see the farm animals before going to bed. The next day, all of my sil's family came..but they stayed at a hotel..which made me uncomfy cuz we stayed with my brother at their house. Friday, a few went golfing and when Konor took a nap, I took Kaidy for some 1-on-1 time shopping. We didn't really shop..just looked, hit a candy shop together and mainly just had fun together. I got back before Konor woke up. Anyway, Colleen (sil) had both her sisters..one's a widower with no kids and the other is married with a 14 month old girl, and...her brother, his wife and 3 kids (twins 7 and boy 2), and her parents over. They kind of kept to themselves and that upset mom and dad a bit. Me, I had to take care of my own 2 kids so I didn't really care much. My brother did farm stuff and had a funeral that day. Kaidy and Konor did get to ride the horses and tractor that day. The next day, we all went to Silverwood...it's an amusement park for all ages and now has a waterpark attached. Mom and dad decided not to go because of the heat (102) and I'm glad they didn't. It was too hot and to be blunt...me and the kids got left so there would have been no way I could deal with a 2 yo, 4 yo, a mom that can barely walk and my dad and his absentmindedness. Colleen took off with her family as soon as they got to the park and left my brother to get rid of the extra tickets he had bought for our parents. Next thing I know, I'm by myself because they all took off to the roller coasters and adult rides. So, I just grabbed a park map and me and the kids did our own thing for a few hours before Lee found us (cell phones didn't work there). Then we ended up spending a bit of time just waiting for the others to return and I fed the kids. I bought a lot of drinks (mostly water) and Colleens sibs drank them all. I was pretty mad..not because I shared the drinks but! because they left nothing for me and my kids! So off in line I waited again for more drinks. Then finally, all of us went to the waterpark. Konor had a pee accident there. He had just woke up from his nap so I tried to change him into his suit right away....long story short, he pee'd on me and all over the place. Thankfully, those sitting close to us just laughed and told stories of been there done that. Then me and the kids played in the wave pool and on the water slides. Then at the end, I told everyone we had to hit the train. Lee had convinced me to wait until the end of the day for Konor's ultimate treat. But, bad news...when we got there, the train was full. The conductor told us we could get on but when we went up the sidewalk, another gal slammed the gate right in Konor's face and said "the train was full and that was that". My poor son's face fell as he watched the last train leave. I almost cried for him. I had this insatiable urge to squat down next to my son, point at the woman and say,"son, here's a new word...bitch!" I could have strangled her. Oh well. We hit the carousel before leaving and that h! elped get Konor's mind off it. Sunday, the kids rode the horses again...well, Konor prefered the tractor...guess he's just like his daddy and needs more than one horsepower! lol It was a long trip home...lots of pee stops for the kids, my parents...and did I mention we had to bring their "shitpoos" with us too? Thankfully the many stops kept those dogs from peeing in my truck. (I had left my dog home). All in all, my kids were the best behaved kids! Made Colleens' sibs kids look like hellions (they kind of were). Konor did amazing with potty training..mainly just the one accident at the waterpark..but after waking up and hearing all that water, who could blame him! hehe I have to say I won't go back again if I know all of Colleen's family is going to be there. They are nice enough but we kind of got ignored much of the time and my brother spent much of the time doing farm stuff. (He's not a farmer...he's an engineer with a few cows, horses and chickens). So the trip was long, and a lesson in patience. I'm pretty proud at knowing I could take care of all of us if Jas is gone. Thanks for listening.
