I couldn't agree more!

days of old. There was no formula. All that was done was breastfeeding. That was it.
It also was not a question of boobies and the nipples verse the bottle. It was mom
with her breasts and that was the end of the story. Society defines what we should be
doing even if its not right and we typically go along with it, instead of really
thinking about whats right. We sometime and even a lot of the time have to go along
with what is around us because the hussle and bussle around us forces us to flow with
it. We need to get back to whats really important "FAMILY".

That is great that they have extended it. It truly surprises me how few mothers BF
even for 6weeks to 3 months. It is sad, really. I keep thinking "It's almost time to
wean Brenden", but he is showing no signs of wanting to stop and he still seems such a
baby to me, so we'll continue until the time is right for both of us. :-) Amazing
how many people are starting to comment..."he's STILL BFing???"

If you act as if it is very natural and don't get upset by any of your mil questions,
I am sure she will come around. ml

ditto that...I'm Teresa (new to the group), mommy of Faith, 9 months old yesterday.
She is our first baby. We just started her on solids about a month ago. My mom
breastfed all 6 of us kids, but also started us all on solids very early, around 2
weeks; I guess that's what they did back then. My hubbie's mom didn't breastfeed any
of her six. So no support there (in fact, I'm dreading our visit to there next week
since I'm still nursing, and they aren't very supportive of that). But I admire you,
Patty...you're doing a great job...hang in there.
