Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14 Why would God set forth these standards regarding marriage? Is God being restrictive? No. God is being protective and He wants the best for you and the best for me. God wants to spare us the pain and agony of being unequally yoked, of being hooked up with another human being who does not have the same strength or the same octane or the same RPMs that Christ brings. Why? God wants us to be equally yoked with believers because His desire for us is that we reach our ulti-mate destination. That is what dating is all about: to find the ulti-mate. I don�t care how casual it is. I don�t care how flippant it is. Down deep, I�m talking even to guys now, you are thinking, �Could she be the one? Could she be my wife, the mother of my children? Could I grow old with her?� And I know, women, which you are thinking the same kinds of thoughts about the men you date. Do you want to reach your ulti-mate destination? Do you want to hit on all eight cylinders? Then Connect with another Christ-follower. Frankly, my heart is grieved and broken for so many people who make the wrong call, thinking they can somehow reach their ulti-mate destination without being equally yoked. It is a formula for failure.
