I. Tiffany Windsor, Aleene Jackson & Heidi Borchers's Craft Tips

What can I make with Mardi Gras beads? Merlene Blake
The Mardi Gras beads that we have seen are usually faceted so they
would look fabulous as bead garlands on a Christmas tree. You could
also glue them around a foam ball or foam cone in rows for bright
holiday decorations. How about just hanging them in the window to
catch the sunlight?!!

II. Great Tips For Today

Tip 1 - Create Sand Art With Clear Empty Bottles:
Buy play sand at your local Wal-Mart in the garden center, then
purchase food coloring paste, hot glue gun/sticks, stones, trim,
floral accents, etc. In the craft department. In a disposable bowl
or paper cup, mix about 1 cup of sand with a tablespoon of food
coloring paste. Use a funnel and store them in your water bottles (I
save my flavored coffee creamer containers). You can mix colors to get
a variety of colors before you start or add more paste to make a more
intense color. Add the colored sand by spoonfuls, placing a funnel in
the bottle, alternate colors until the bottle is full. You can lean
the bottle to get different effects. Apply a bead of hot glue around
the top of the bottle; screw the lid on to seal the sand in the
bottle. You can then accent/cover the lid with stones, shells, lace,
ribbon, feathers, etc. to match your color theme. This is a great
craft for pre-teens and teens, they love it!

Tip 2 - Coloring Your Floor Tiles
To paint on ceramic tile you would first need to rough it up some so
that the paint has something to adhere to. I would suggest
Emulsabond, purchase at any paint store, it is a liquid sandpaper,
less mess, then you will need to use either a porch and patio paint,
Benjamin Moore makes a good one, or a oil based high gloss. Whichever
you choose, once it is very dry (at least 7 days to cure fully) coat
entire floor with a oil based floor polyurethane. This will ensure
that your designs will not come up off the floor. I hope this helps.
