TODAY'S QUESTION: (answer at bottom of newsletter)

Let's say you are a Windows NT domain administrator. You are in the
middle of compressing files on an NTFS partition, when suddenly you
lose power to your computer. The compression has not completed. How
can you force compress operations to complete even on files that you
have already marked as compressed?

a) Do nothing. The compress attribute will reapply compression when
the system restarts.
b) Use Compact.exe /f to force compression on all designated files.
c) Use Chkdsk to repair and recompress all files.
d) Use Comperss.exe /f to force compression on all designated files.

ANSWER:

B is the correct answer. A isn't, because Windows NT does not reapply
compression to marked files unless you use the Compact.exe utility. C
is wrong, because this utility does not perform compression
operations. D is incorrect, because Compress.exe does not exist.
