I. Tiffany Windsor, Aleene Jackson & Heidi Borchers's Craft Tips I need directions to make handkerchief dolls, easy ones would help. I plan to use white handkerchiefs that have lace and embroidery in one corner. Thanks Rosalie --Start with a standard white men's handkerchief. Fold it in half and sew the two sides together close to the hem, from the bottom edge about two-thirds of the way up the handkerchief. Turn right side out. Knot each of the two top corners close to the corner. This makes it look like a puffed sleeve with the corner sticking out for the arm. Place a wad of stuffing in the center between the two knots. Gather the material up around it, wind thread around tightly several times, and knot to form a head. You can sew lace around the bottom of the "gown" and across the top of the head to look like a bonnet. Embroider or paint a face on the doll and you are done. II. Great Tips For Today Tip 1 -Christmas Card Ornament Balls In response to the Christmas ball made out of cards. You need 20 cards. Cut a circle onto cardboard using about a 3-inch circle. Then you cut a triangle out on cardboard to fit the circle so that the 3 edges fold upwards after you trace circle onto card with picture that you want to use. There are 4 rolls with five circles to each row. First start by making the top of the ball with the circles folded into the triangle shape with points up glue sides together. The next row you glue the top parts of triangle with tips facing downward. Then the third has the triangle tips fitting into the sides. And the last row has them facing downward. You can put glue on outside and sprinkle with glitter or place lace beads. For the center, you can use yarn, tie through, loop it on the top, and knot it on the bottom. I hope this is useful and what you were looking for. Tip 2 - Neat Beads I make bead bracelets for my daughter and keep some of the beads in old medicine bottles. That way I can buy quite a few in bulk, and have plenty of room to store them in the bigger bottles. I also scrapbook and use them to store, eyelets, brads and misc. small items like that. I just peel off the label and put my own label on with a description of what's inside so I can find what I was looking for quick. Hope that helps.
