Rebel cleric urges fighters to lay down arms

Radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr ordered his fighters to lay down
their arms and leave the area as thousands of Iraqis thronged the
revered Imam Ali shrine Friday after he and the Iraqi government agreed
to a peace proposal by Iraq's top Shiite cleric to end three weeks of
fighting in Najaf.

Car bomb explodes in Mosul, injuring 10

A car bomb exploded Friday in the northern city of Mosul, wounding at
least 10 Iraqi civilians, the U.S. military said. U.S. Army Capt. Angela
Bowman said the bomb appeared to target a U.S. military convoy on the
western edge of the city.

Poverty, uninsured rose in '03

The number of Americans in poverty and without health insurance each rose 
by more than 1 million in 2003, the Census Bureau reported Thursday. The 
median household income was virtually unchanged, but women lost ground 
against men for the first time since 1999.

The median home price across the USA is $183,800 in the second quarter,
up 9.1% from a year earlier, according to the National Association of
Realtors. The association's survey of 128 metropolitan regions finds a
