Inflation Rate Softens To 7.94%  
Prices of vegetables shot up 11 per cent even as the annual rate of inflation on a 
point-to-point basis softened slightly to 7.94 per cent for the week ended August 14. 
The rate of inflation in the previous week was 7.96 per cent. Although the index of 
food items led by vegetables increased 0.9 per cent, its impact on the overall index 
was neutralised by a 7.4 per cent decline in the index for minerals.
