(Martha) RESPONSE FROM VICTORIA RING Many people have asked the same question Martha, so I decided to publish a response in this issue of the ezine. This provides you with the overview of what this business actually entails. However, to answer your question � you do not need special training to become a bankruptcy forms processor. I have tried very hard to include everything you need in the book itself, including the training. In fact, there is little education for paralegals and attorneys who work in the field anyway. That�s why I sell a lot of copies of the book directly to attorneys and their staff. Because notaries are already familiar with the processing of government-related forms, a notary can just as easily process bankruptcy forms. Besides, the work you do is under the direction of an attorney. He or she will correct any mistakes before filing the bankruptcy petition so you are never faced with any possible legal violations. Attorneys take the responsibility for their work. Your job is simply to take the information provided by the client and list it correctly on the federal forms of the bankruptcy petition. You do not perform any type of paralegal work � just document preparation. Another question I get from notaries pertains to their concern about possible unauthorized practice of law preparing bankruptcy petitions in their state. Although the book goes into detail about this subject � this book is not about preparing bankruptcy petitions for consumers. Instead, you are working for attorneys who use independent document preparers to save money in the bankruptcy preparation process. If you use your knowledge to start preparing bankruptcy petitions for anyone other than an attorney, you can be charged for unauthorized practice of law. But no law exists that states you cannot work for an attorney as an independent contract worker. Finally, another question I get all the time about the book is whether you can make any money or not as a bankruptcy forms processor. I personally made a great deal of money preparing bankruptcy petitions for attorneys. In the book I explain everything I did to develop, market and grow the company. At one point I had five (5) full-time employees and 56 attorneys (in a variety of different states) as clients. The business grew to a point that I either had to sell it or move to a storefront location. I chose to sell the business and it is presently owned by David Gonzalez in Yonkers, New York. Everyone knows someone who has lost their job and money is very tight for most people around the country. Because of this, bankruptcy filings are booming in every state. But to prove my point, go to http://www.bankruptcyaction.com/USbankstats.htm and you will see that from March 30, 2003 to March 30, 2004, 1,654,847 people filed bankruptcy. That is an average of 137,903 per month or 4,597 per day. Perhaps this will help answer the question �if� money can be made processing bankruptcy petitions. This lady is a bundle full of enthusiasm and great ideas. One tidbit of information she passed on to me was a software program by the name of The Mobile Notary. I immediately downloaded the trial version and tried it out for myself. Wow! I was immediately impressed with its functionality. The software includes everything you need to keep track of all your signing agent records as well as which company owes you money. The software also tells you exactly how much income (minus expenses) you have earned which comes in handy at tax time. Although the price of $178.00 is a little pricy for some people, the programmer, Gabi Rekasi, has made a DISCOUNT available of only $95.65 through the end of September. To take advantage of this offer or to download a free sample to try out first, do the following: 1. Go online to http://www.notariesnetwork.com/Album_NNA.htm 2. The web page will give you several screen shots of the software for your review. 3. To download the free trial version, look at the top of the web page and there is a link titled �Downloads� 4. To order the product at the reduced price, click on the link at the top of the web page titled �More Info.� 5. For more information about the company that developed the software, and to view the actual website of the developer, go to http://www.thefelicita.com/ If you decide to download and give the program a try, keep in mind that it is 125mg in size. If you are connected to the internet with a modem � it could take several hours to download. Even on my high-speed Roadrunner connection it took 20 minutes to download � but the time was worth the wait. The Mobile Notary software requires Microsoft Access to run. Just like you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer to view PDF files. Most computers today have Microsoft Access installed from the factory so check and find out what it installed on your computer so you will know the correct version to download. For me, I didn�t know if I had Access on my computer or not, so I downloaded the �Access Runtime� version. If you check out this software and find out it is perfect for your needs, you can email the man who developed it at <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> if you have any questions. ________________________________________________ ������������������������������������������������ ������������������������������������������������ HOW TO DOWNLOAD PDF DOCUMENTS FOR PRODUCTS YOU ORDER ONLINE I normally spend a few hours every day providing tech support to people who order products through 50 State Notary but have trouble downloading, viewing or printing the document. Hopefully the information below will help to prevent this from happening to you in the future. When someone sends you a PDF document as an attachment on an email, the document normally is downloaded to your computer automatically when you receive the email. But when you order a PDF document online, fill out the order form and then taken to a download page to get the product you ordered � you have not downloaded the document on your computer at this point. Instead, the PDF document you are viewing when you click on the download button is still on the internet. It is not on your computer. If you try to print the document without saving it to your computer, it is easy to lose your internet connection or the document may not fully download since it is hanging out there in �internet land� somewhere. Therefore, if you order any products on the internet, whether it be ebooks, software, or any other product that takes you to a download page � make sure you save the file to your computer BEFORE you attempt to print it. When you order software products, normally when you click on a download link a screen pops up asking you where to save the file on your computer. But when a document is in electronic PDF format, it opens automatically so you can view the information over the internet. It never downloads to your computer until you do the job yourself. To save the file to your computer, from Adobe Reader click on �File� then select �Save As� from the menu. Save the file to a folder on your computer where you can easily locate it. Then, open the PDF file you saved to your computer and print the document. If the document is relatively large (50 or more pages) you may have to print it in sections.
