PRODUCT SUMMARY:
________________________________________________________

Companies today need reliable storage systems that protect against
compromised data, failed drives and inadequate disk space. Until
recently, however, extendable and secure data recovery systems
were only available in the form of high-priced, complex RAID solutions.

Now, however, Broadcom is offering the RAIDCore BC4000 Series RAID
host bus adapter (HBA), which offers enterprise-class protection that's
affordable to small and medium-sized businesses, as well as enterprise
workgroups.

The BC4000 Series product family is a set of 64-bit, PCI-X, low-profile,
2U-compatible controller cards. The product family provides both four-
drive and eight-drive support and is based on Broadcom's new
BCM5770 Serial ATA controller chip. The combination of this chip and
the BC4000 controller card significantly boosts reliability with efficient

power consumption and thermal load balancing. The BC4000 also features
an
MTBF of 3.5 million hours -- nearly three times what is offered by
competitive SATA RAID controller cards.

Features of the BC4000 Series controllers include:

* Enterprise-class data integrity and data access performance at SMB
price points
* A reliable and extensive RAID feature set for SATA-based applications
* Two available configurations: BC4452-H (for 4-channel SATA drives)
and BC4852-H (for 8-channel SATA drives)

The BC4000 RAID HBAs also offer an extensive Serial ATA-based RAID
feature set via Broadcom's XelCore(TM) RAID software. The XelCore
software is based on proprietary Fulcrum(TM) architecture, a highly
integrated storage architecture. These enterprise-class RAID features
include:
* Online RAID-level migration
* Online capacity expansion
* Online array creation/deletion
* Controller spanning
* Drive roaming
* N-way disk mirroring and hiding
* Distributed sparing
* Multiple array types per drive
