Dear Friend in Christ,
We just received exciting news that GFA native missionary Besh has been freed from the
Maoist group that abducted him in mid-August. Another missionary had been sent to
search for him, but in the meantime Besh was safely returned, physically unharmed.
This is nothing short of a miracle when we consider that Maoists in this district
typically kill those they abduct.

We appreciate your prayers for this brother in Christ throughout his ordeal. Give
thanks to the Father for his protection and release. Pray for His comfort and healing
to be upon Besh as he recovers from the experience and continues evangelizing the
unreached. Continue to pray with us for the Lord to intervene and bring peace to the
nation of Nepal, where insurgent Maoists fight for a communist state and control 60
percent of the country. More than 9,000 lives have been lost since the conflict began
in 1996.

Grace and peace,
John Schwartz

::: NEWS: Piggy Banks Reaching India - 09/03/04

Fifteen native missionaries on the Indian subcontinent received bicycles recently,
thanks to an Ohio Sunday school's latest missions project. Five hundred children, ages
3 to 11, raised and saved the money for five weeks. Each quarter the group selects a
new missions project. That quarter, they chose to give toward providing bicycles for
Gospel for Asia missionaries.

The children completed the project enthusiastically. Some children went door-to-door
in their neighborhoods, asking for donations. One young person raised $300 that way.
The fourth and fifth grade children challenged their teachers to match the funds they
raised. A third grade girl gave $59 of her allowance to the bike fund.

During the project, teachers sent home flyers and reminders, along with printouts of
missionary stories from GFA's website. Teachers and parents alike enjoyed seeing the
children's selfless commitment and their excitement at being able to reach the lost.

When the time came to count the money and send it in for bikes, the children
discovered they had raised $1,440. Praise God! These enthusiastic children sent 15
missionaries out on new bicycles to bring the love of Christ to many more unreached
Asian villages than they ever could have reached on foot.

::: NEWS: Direction for Prabath - 08/27/04
>From an early age, Prabath watched his parents sacrifice to their gods and goddesses,
>hoping to invoke their blessing. His mother and father even taught him to follow in
>their footsteps. But following these practices offered no comfort to the young boy.
>Instead, emptiness gripped him. For Prabath, life had no direction, no purpose.

Time went by. Then, walking aimlessly in his community one day, Prabath encountered a
man standing on a street corner, talking about Jesus. Somehow he felt drawn to stay
and hear what the evangelist had to say. Understanding his desperate need for a
Savior, Prabath welcomed Jesus into his heart and began to worship with other
believers. Life had meaning to him now. "As I richly experienced God's grace and love
in life," he relates, "I decided to share the joy of salvation with the people in my
vicinity." With a passion to serve his Maker, Prabath attended a GFA Bible college to
become better equipped to preach Jesus among those who have never heard.

Pray his parents will also be drawn to Christ and share his burden for the lost. In
India's culture, young people choosing to follow Jesus must often suffer persecution
from their non-Christian families; some are thrown out of their homes. Thank you for
lifting to the Lord these courageous young people who do not count their lives dear to
themselves, that they may take the Gospel to many.

::: NEWS: Waiting for News - 08/26/04
Annal sat expectantly, waiting to hear news about her brother-in-law, Raja, who was in
the government hospital. A member of a GFA Believers Church, Annal had known just what
to do when it was discovered that Raja's intense stomach pains resulted from a large
mass in his abdomen. She brought the situation to the church for prayer. As one body,
the congregation fasted, trusting God for Raja's healing.

Now, two weeks later, Raja had been hospitalized for surgery. Annal and his other
relatives were anxiously awaiting the outcome. Much to their surprise, Raja soon was
able to leave the hospital--without ever having an operation.

The doctors had decided to take another scan before beginning surgery. Where there had
clearly been a mass before, they found nothing! The Lord had healed Raja, and it was a
testimony to all the doctors. Annal, Raja and their families praise God for His mercy
and healing power.
