The kidnappers held power drills to the sculpture's head and threatened to "sacrifice" it unless the cows were deemed "non-art." A video was sent to a newspaper that showed the cow flanked by two masked figures holding power drills in front of a sign reading "Stockholm's Militant Graffiti Artists." "We demand that the cows are declared non-art. Otherwise the hostage will be sacrificed," said a voice on the video. The artists gave the Cow Parade organizers until noon on August 23 to go along with their demand. "We are very upset about the whole matter," said Helena Cederberg, a spokeswoman for Cow Parade, which is described as "the world's largest public art event."
