Here's what's new on StarNet, the online service of the Arizona Daily Star:

Migrants seen as key voter issue
Over the past six years, Cochise County rancher Roger Barnett has been vilified as a
vigilante and hailed as a hero for rounding up illegal immigrants who cross into the
United States from Mexico.

'Top Gun' planes boneyard-bound
An era in military - and movie - history is coming to a close in Tucson today. The
original F-14A Tomcat - the "sexy" Navy warplane that co-starred with Tom Cruise in
the 1986 hit film "Top Gun" - officially will retire when the last of them land at
Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.

Reduction of errors tops Cats' to-do list
Arizona had reason to be upbeat despite its disappointing loss Saturday night to
then-17th-ranked Utah. The Wildcats showed promise in all three phases of the game in
the 23-6 loss. "All around, we looked strong except for a few errors," coach Mike
Stoops said after the Wildcats dropped to 1-1 on the season. Those mistakes will need
to be corrected quickly, however, if Arizona is to have any chance at knocking off No.
20 Wisconsin (2-0) at home this Saturday.

Impact fees of up to $4,730 proposed

approved by the end of the month, with another $1,500 fee for parks possible by the
end of the year.

Fire recovery slow, costly
In March, a small electrical fire at Chihuahua Charlie's shut down the main restaurant
and stalled production at the attached La Buena Tortilla Factory. Co-owner Carlos
Portillo, who manages the restaurant with his wife, Mary Jane, assumed they would be
able to reopen in a matter of weeks. Six months later, the interior remains shrouded
in plastic, the walls stripped of their vibrant paint and decor. A new roof had to be
installed, and it likely will be another month before the restaurant is ready.
