I apologize for the following stale link that
appeared earlier in today's Welfare Plans
Newsletter.

(The link concerns proposed regs about COBRA
notices, which were issued in 2003. The final
COBRA notice regs were issued in 2004 and
become effective January 1, 2005 for most plans:
see
http://www.sablaw.com/files/tbl_s10News/FileUpload44/13076/COBRARegulationsAugust2004.pdf
for a good overview.)

This was the stale link:

New DOL Rules May Help Employers Avoid Nasty COBRA Bite
http://www.hrhero.com/benefits/tip-cobra.shtml

(Georgia Employment Law Letter via HRhero.com)

Excerpt: "Most employers are familiar with their
obligations to provide COBRA notices to terminated
employees at the time of discharge. Unfortunately,
many are less familiar with their obligations to
provide timely notice of COBRA rights to their
employees when certain other 'qualifying events'
occur. Although the issue might not arise frequently,
it's important for you to become aware of all the
requirements you must follow to be truly compliant
with COBRA."
