You can really tell her pride and admiration of her son, the hero of her life. Here�s what she wrote. Today's Hero: My hero presently is my 19-year-old son, Jeremy. After 9/11/01, he made the decision to finish his school early and join the Army to help defend this great nation of ours. He was 17 years old at the time and his dad and I had a hard time signing those papers releasing him to the Army, but he had long dreamed of being a soldier, and so we signed them to let him start his dream. Since being in the Army, he has been such a leader and friend to his fellow soldiers. And he worries about them all and encourages them through the hard times. He has completed several specialty schools and gone up in rank at a rapid pace. He works hard to give his fellow soldiers the best of his knowledge and skills for them to survive in combat. As he prepared to leave for Iraq in late February, his biggest concern was for one of his soldiers dying, and, for his parents and girlfriend to not worry or shed tears over him. He is so young, and yet he loves others so deeply that he makes sacrifices of his own well being so that they may be more comfortable. I am so proud to be his mother and proud to tell the world what a hero he is to me, his dad and his 2 brothers. May God watch over and bless all of our troops. Joyce sent her story in February, so I hope Jeremy and all of his fellow soldiers are still doing well and are either home safely or will be soon! The best thing we can be is the hero of another.
