See Popeye was right all along! Why in the heck have we been using
conventional technology to harness the power of the sun when we should
have been using spinach all along. OK, that is sort of weird.
Regardless though, MIT may truly be onto something with their advanced
solar research and the old fashion can a of spinach.... [Continued]

The Internet end times? OK, this seems to be Intel's conclusion,
but I tend to disagree. In actuality I see it as a maturing process.
Growth bound Web sites are content centered rather than gimmick
centered as they were back in the 1990's. I think that this is only

"Recent analyses of ESA??s Mars Express data reveal that
concentrations of water vapour and methane in the atmosphere of Mars
significantly overlap. This result, from data obtained by the
Planetary Fourier Spectrometer (PFS), gives a boost to understanding
of geological and atmospheric processes on Mars, and provides
important new hints to evaluate the hypothesis of present life on the
Red Planet. PFS observed that, at 10-15 kilometres above the surface,
water vapour is well mixed... [Continued]

Veritas worthy, Computer Associates ArcServe worthy. The time has come
for Microsoft to say they will protect and serve our data without
shuffling the DLTs, it's about disk to disk. Microsoft thinks it's
darn near time we let the DLT and DAT tapes go into the dust bin,
shove those huge heaping HP drives into the skip and whip out the real
SATA deal.... [Continued]

"Earlier this month, Philadelphia became the latest municipality
to throw its hat in the Wi-Fi ring and enjoy an image bounce that
would be the envy of any presidential candidate. Civic interest in
Wi-Fi makes municipalities look sexy and modern. Less certain,
however, are their chances for success as providers of emerging
communications technology. Offering wireless broadband is a new course
for cities and towns, say observers, and one that may not be quite
as... [Continued]

In his latest Langalist, Fred Langa presents a letter from someone
whose pen drive was destroyed by the x-ray scanner at the Cincinnati
airport. According to Fred, the powerful magnets used in generating
and focusing the x-rays -- not the x-rays themselves -- were likely
the cause of the pen drive's untimely demise. The incident points up
that we tend to forget how delicate some of these devices are.... [Continued]
