 Welcome

When I was working at a publishing company in England, I didn't know any Christians in my office. The atmosphere was decidedly secular, and whenever I mentioned anything about my faith, I was met with an awkward silence. I was so happy when Mark started working in my office. He was an active Christian, and we would often talk about our faith, which made it easier for others to join in the conversation.

Faith can be difficult to discuss at work, especially when there seems to be an unwritten taboo against speaking about it. Many Christians have learned to automatically turn off their "faith switch" when they walk through the office door every morning. They don't want to offend their coworkers. They don't want to seem judgmental or pushy. Or they simply start shaking with nerves at the mention of the word witness.

Whatever the reason, sharing your faith with unbelieving coworkers doesn't have to be painful. You don't have to have huge amounts of courage or eloquence. God has equipped each person with the ability to share the Good News, and our new Bible study series called Faith in the Workplace will help you and your group to understand why and how to take the most important part of your life to the place where you spend most of it.

 Teaching Tools & Tips

Broken People Can Become Whole Disciples
The steps from dysfunction to fully functioning Christian.

The challenge for today's church is how to make whole disciples out of broken people.

Some people's brokenness is obvious. Abuse or abandonment has left scars. With others, beautiful exteriors have been carefully crafted to hide what no one really wants to see anyway. Sometimes only their eyes betray them. Or the unsteadiness in the voice, or the almost unnoticeable trembling of the hands.

That was Sarah's case. Who would guess this young wife with two children had just had a lesbian affair? Sarah's infidelity masked a deeper internal fragmentation. How could her husband Michael have known that his emotional inaccessibility would lead to this kind of alienation? Though he loved Sarah deeply, his own background made the prospect of intimacy something he feared almost more than abandonment.

Their marriage was fragile, their future uncertain.

Can you make disciples of such people?

 Questions from Bible Readers

How should I pray?
Tell it like it is.
2 Samuel 7:18-29

Prayer is a mysterious communication between the All-Powerful Lord and a limited human being, but at its core it's a conversation. Although God knows you and your thoughts (7:20), he made you to worship him and to commune with him.
