ATI readies big Linux driver push (News)

Do You Install KDE or GNOME? (Special)

Actually, that's a trick question. You should install both. Even if you plan to use a different window manager or desktop environment (BlackBox, FVWM, etc.), it's a good idea to install KDE and GNOME just because you never know when you're going to run into an application that requires either package's libraries. Some of my favorite apps require GTK+, and there are a handful that require KDE or at Qt.... [Continued]

Well, sort of. Tux may not be able to fly, but he'll be helping a German aerospace firm test their engine designs with 3D modeling. By using a Linux cluster, MTU Aero Engines in Munich has saved a bundle of cash and improved their computing performance. Their cluster ranks 179 among the top 500 supercomputers in the world.... Denmark Takes Tux to the Bank (News)

The Danish Ministry of Finance recently made the move to Open Source by implementing the JBoss Application Server on a Red Hat system. The package will coordinate the distribution of financial information between the Ministry and 400 banks by taking data from outside sources (SAP, etc.) and converting them to XML for sharing replication....
