Term Of The Day: Watered Stock
------------------------------------------------------------
A stock that represents drastically overvalued assets. Assets
can be overvalued for several reasons, including inflated
accounting values or as a result of an excessive issue of
stock (usually through a stock dividend).
Investopedia Says:
------------------------------------------------------------
The term actually originates from the "wild west." Before
taking cattle to the slaughterhouse, ranchers would feed cattle
huge amounts of water. The excess water meant that they weighed
more at delivery, which ultimately meant more money for the
rancher.
