Ada Pointer Size Problem - 4 new
----------------------------------
... in C and C++ on most 32 bits platforms: sizeof( void *) == sizeof( long ) =
= sizeof( int ) == 4 that's why he is allowed to store pointers in an int. to
use 64 bit wide integers, you have to use __int64. so I don't think he
missed the 80286 and its bunch of wonderful memory models... ... well, we
have to get prepared for the future world of 128 bit computing. coming sooner
or later to a computer near you ! ... - Fri, Oct 22 2004 2:41 am

decimal separator (international? - 6 new
----------------------------------
... This list is impressive, indeed. Well, of course, I am biased by the long_
time use of Computers which culminated in the use of the programming language
Ada. E.g. I like Ada's ability to accept different number bases in the source
code fitting like a glove when it comes to easily write down binary, octal,
hexadecimal numbers (literals) or even numbers with a base of 7 or 13 . ;-)
I admit to be "pro point" for decimal marker and "pro underscore" for grouping
due to habituation, although I am living in a "comma" country.... - Fri,

Ada# - 2 new
----------------------------------
Hi, I am not able to find informations about Ada#. When trying a search of
Ada# with Google it returns Ada links. I suppose that Ada# is Ada for .NET,
isn't it? So it should works with Linux MONO too, but I don't even find any
reference to Ada# in www.go-mono.com site. 1) Where can I get more
informations about it? 2) Is it a totally different language from Ada95, the
same way C# is different from C and C++? I'm really interested on Ada# only if
it is not much different from Ada95. 3) Any tutorial on how to use Ada95/Ada#

ada on windows with GNAT and AdaGIDE - 3 new
----------------------------------
Hi everyone, I just tried to get an ada development environment to work on my
Windows XP PC. I installed GNAT 3.15p and AdaGIDE 7.21. But whenever I try to
compile a program I get a compiler error. Also for the hello-world prog: with
Ada.Text_Io; use Ada.Text_Io; procedure Hello is begin put_Line("Hello
World!"); end Hello; I dont think that the sourcecode is wrong. The error is:
"[...] gnat: you must provide one source file Done--error detected." I did
save the file before compiling. So what could be the reason for this?!... -

Is T an ancestor of T? - all new
----------------------------------
... Oh come on! I'm sure German has the same construct. "Other" implies "
other than X", and X has got to be mentioned or otherwise apparent from the
context. The sentence is as follows: "The ultimate ancestor of a type is the
ancestor of the type that is not a descendant of any other type." There are
two types mentioned that are possible candidates for X. One, T1, is being
defined as "the ultimate ancestor". The other, T2, is spoken of as "a type"
and "the type". It is stated that T1 is an ancestor of T2, which means that T
2 is a... - Sat, Oct 23 2004 9:55 am

ANN: ASIS2XML 20041024a - all new
----------------------------------
ASIS2XML converts a unit's ASIS representation into XML, so as to make it
easier to develop transformational tools using (for example) XSLT. As
supplied, it relies on GNAT; the only ASIS-for-GNAT feature it relies on is
that Data_Decomposition.Size has been extended to work for Subtype Indications;
and that only so that it can work out how many bytes a record component will
occupy when streamed (this part is in progress) Not every ASIS feature is
supported yet. There is no XML Schema as yet (however, the... - Sun, Oct
