Thank you very, very much for providing a note of sanity and rational
explanation to this issue.
My husband commented just yesterday, a lovely dry day, that the tackiness on
the unpainted surfaces was lower and I was wondering if he was observing a
hygoscopic situation.
We're 99% sure now that the few tbsp of mystery liquid is simply water -
condensate accumulated during the 13 years we've had the boat ... and never
had a need to delve into the bow 'locker'. The liquid is very good at
extinguishing flames among other properties.
