I am a software developer who has a huge project that
will keep me busy for a few years. Rather than be
cooped up in the states on this, I thought I would go
somewhere that I love being. Baja has a Pacific and a
Gulf side( Sea of Cortez). During the winter, it is
populated by international windsurfers on the Gulf
side and surboarders on the Pacific.

I will be doing mostly snorkeling initially but might
add SCUBA or a Hookah (small portable air compressor
with hose). I enjoy underwater photography and prefer
my fishing with a speargun. That and a lot of island
hopping seemed to make a catamaran a good choice.

I looked at some of the videos and read some of the
recent discussions on righting a 16' and it seems like
a happy compromise. Some of the flips were outrageous
and made the boats look they weighed 25 pounds.

There was also an article on small trolling motors
that I might consider.
