Welcome to today's edition of Inside PCMag.com.
A recent study by America Online and the National Cyber
Security Alliance notes that most home PC users do not
realize just how vulnerable their systems are to viruses,
spyware, and adware. We hope that our PC Magazine readers
are much better informed. But what about your friends,
relatives and coworkers? Do they seem as ill-informed as
those in the AOL study? Let us know in the forum.

Dvorak Online: Podcasting, The Next Big Nothing?

Bloggers and iPod lovers are apparently uniting on a new
technology that will allow Macintosh and iPod owners to take
audio blogs with them wherever they go and listen to them in
between the latest hot tunes. Columnist John C. Dvorak can
almost smell the hype, but warns that this could be another
non-starter trend, especially since most people are on PCs
and this technology apparently is just for Macophiles--at
least for now. What's going on here? Dvorak sorts it all
out.

Show Report-RoboNexus: FIRST Makes Technology and Students
the Stars

Segway inventor Dean Kamen says our culture's obsession with
sports figures and Hollywood is not just annoying, it's
dangerous. We're on the verge of falling behind other world
leaders in technology unless we do something to make
science, math, and technology study as interesting as
Monday Night Football</em>. Not surprisingly, Kamen has a
plan well underway, and now his popular FIRST robotics
competition is going international. We have more details
in our report.

See for Yourself; Robot Slide Show

Robonexus was a big show and an unexpected hit in Santa
Clara, California. Thousands of people traveled hundreds of
miles to see the amazing robots. You only have to turn on
your PC to see the best parts.

Solutions: Block Web Ads for Free

There are two, no-cost options for stopping Web ads before
they interrupt your Web-site enjoyment. In our latest
Solutions article, we look at HOST file manipulation and
compare it to the lesser known but more powerful Proxy
Automatic Configuration.

Review: Clunky but Competent Camcorder

Few people buy an external light for their camcorder, even
though there are quite a few situations where they could
use one. So the JVC GR-D33US digital camcorder's built-in
LED light is a welcome feature. The rest of the product is
a bit of a mixed bag. It's awkward to operate, but able to
produce excellent video images. And it costs less than $500.
What's the verdict on this one? Read the full review for
more details.

Opinion: Rent, Don't Rip

Columnist Bill Howard is a serial owner. He bought his house
and his car, too. Renting and leasing is just not for him.
He took the same approach to media, and has been an avid CD
and DVD purchaser. But now a closer look at the digital
realm and all it offers in concert with broadband is forcing
Howard to rethink the whole "buy" thing. Could it be time to
stop buying and only rent music and movies online? Read
Howard's column to see if he's had a change of heart.

Review Roundup: The Best Audio Players

When choosing a digital music player, you may be tempted to
buy one of the super-small and attractive flash-drive
layers. But for many people, they have too little space to
hold all the songs you'll want for a long day. Hard drive
players have gigabytes worth of space, enough to hold
thousands of songs in high-quality recording formats. Now,
the only question is which one to buy. Might we suggest
that you look at our roundup of three of the latest models
form Apple, Rio Audio and Creative Labs?
