Hi, Ronda and Doug! Nice to see your posts. The main rule in
Boondocking is, There ain't no stinkin rules!!

Most boondockers camp like that to get away from the crowds.Even a
well known dry camping spot gives more privacy than parking next to
some wackos in an RV park, who are drinking, sitting around the
campfire thats filling your R V and lungs with pine tar smoke, and
yard youngun's booming through you small but paid for space, whooping
and hollering and knocking over your grill table. I know you get the
picture. As to how long you can go without hookups, that depends on
how you use what you have on board. To use lights, water pump, TV,
radio, etc, you must have power. Power can be as simple as one good
deep cycle battery, which might last two days without recharging.
Some folks crank up the tow vehicle, hook up the cables and recharge
the battery. I have two 6 volt batteries, T-105 golf cart batteries,
and a couple of solar panels, so I can stay as long as my water
lasts. Taking care of the water you have and not wasting it, can
lengthen your stay. Actually, you can figure it all out after one or
two campouts. That neighbor's pond sounds real nice!

Just go and have a good time, make sure you have plenty of fuel for
the DO's, and when you cook a roast, holler for me! By the way, I
boondock when I strike out across country. Just overnites at Wal-
Mart, K-mart, church yards, an across Texas, rest areas. Also in
Arizona. I always ask permission and buy something at the stores.

Best regards, Jack H
