Michael--Just a little historical perspective: When I bought my
first Lotus (my '67 Elan S3) in 1970 from Karl's Garage in NYC I
thought it would be a good idea to have a manual to go with it
(especially since I was soon to move the car to New Mexico--a long
way from any Lotus dealer). The dealer was more than happy to
comply and added a manual (a single volume, but complete with all
subsections) to the deal for $25. That seemed like a high price to
me at the time since it was about 1% of the purchase price for the
car. But that volume has been an invaluable addition to my Lotus
ownership experience, and I would have been really mystified without
it when trying to do some repairs and ugrades over these many years
of owning/driving the car. Last time I looked, the Elise was about
$45+K out the door, so 1% more for a manual only suggests that maybe
things have not changed that much :-)

Cheers, Joel
