1. News: Leading ISPs Sue More Spammers

AOL, EarthLink, Microsoft and Yahoo have filed seven spam
lawsuits, the companies' second round this year using the

2. News: Campaign Site Finds Darker Side of Web Branding

Companies that fail to register multiple domain names and
extensions under their brand can fall victim to
cyber-squatters, confuse their customers or open up their
customers to Web and e-mail scams from hackers running
look-alike sites. They also run the risk of sending
sensitive e-mail to unintended recipients, as the
Bush-Cheney '04 re-election campaign found out this month.
How did e-mail meant for Bush campaign insiders arrive at a
political parody site?

3. News: Voters Checking Out Other Sides' Sites

Researchers have found that Internet users are not just
reading political Web sites they agree with. They're
checking out the other sides' sites, surprising researchers
who expected to see "selective exposure" among Internet
users.

4. Opinion: Political Videos Via IM: Vote No!

Do people really want to see streaming video pop-ups from
their instant messaging clients? Or more to the point as
this election season winds down, do users want to see a
political ad from a group or candidate they do not support,
or worse, may actually despise? David Coursey thinks not.

5. Check 21: Playing at a Bank Near You!

A new digital check-handling process, looking to improve the
banking industry, just went into effect. The change is
mandated by the Check Clearing for the 21st Century Act, aka
Check 21. So, is your check in the e-mail?

6. News: Holiday Online Sales to Jump 20 Percent

Forrester Research is projecting that online holiday sales
this year will hit $13.2 billion, which represents a 20
percent increase compared with last year. That's great when
compared with a projected brick-and-mortar sales percentage
increase of 4.5 percent for the same period, but much less
so when compared with last year's online retail growth of 31
percent compared with 2002. Why the slowdown?

7. News: Microsoft Expands Windows Anti-Piracy Program

Until Thursday, there were no tangible benefits to
participating in the Microsoft Genuine Advantage program.
But now, users who agree to participate in Microsoft's
program will be offered up to $390 worth of software for
free or reduced prices. Mary Jo Foley of Microsoft Watch
has the news.

8. Opinion: Sender ID Rises From the Dead, Spooky Patent and
All

PRA: Trick or treat? It sure looked like all the bridges had
been burned, but if the big cheeses in the industry get
behind it, Sender ID may be the only realistic game in town.
