NETFLASH: BREAKING NEWS FROM NETWORK WORLD FUSION

By Jeff Caruso

It's Election Day, and with everyone and their grandmother
reminding you to go vote today, you certainly don't need me
chiming in. Instead, we bring you a look at electronic voting
machines, which will be used by 30% of the voters in 27 states
and the District of Columbia this year. Are they a godsend, an
election fraud waiting to happen, or something that will simply
guarantee job security to lawyers for years to come?
E-voting's big test comes today

Red Sox IT department caches in on World Series

Our editors in the home office are rabid Red Sox fans, and they
couldn't resist this story that matches their love of the team
with a cool network application. Yes, it's all about a proxy
appliance from Blue Coat Systems that allowed the Sox to avoid a
costly WAN upgrade. But it's also a chance for Executive Editor
Bob Brown to remind everyone who won the World Series.

Intel's Pentium 4 tops out at 3.8 GHz on Nov. 15

In two weeks, Intel will increase the clock speed of its Pentium
4 processor for possibly the last time as the company heads into
a new era for its desktop processor designs.

Tandberg expands videoconferencing line

Tandberg Monday rolled out three videoconferencing appliances
targeted at the desktop and small group conferences and are all
capable of H.264 video compression and AES encryption.
