I also plan to use rack and pinion for my setup if the cost comes out 
being worth it. I have been told to use the new 20 degree pressure 
angle rack instead of the older 14.5 degree. But I also have the concern 
of accuracy, I know it will be really good for Plasma and Oxy/Fuel, and 
on a 4'x4' router I am sure you would probably not even notice the error 
in a really big job like a house door or something, but PCB milling might 
be a differant story. Here is a neat web site showing how the gears
