PARENTS TAKE ADVANTAGE OF NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND LAW
For Llasmin Ciseros, the No Child Left Behind Act comes down to a matter of
convenience.he convenience of a shorter commute. She transferred last year,
when Immokalee High failed to meet state testing goals, to Gulf Coast High in
Golden Gate Estates. And again this year, the district, as required by federal
law, offered to send her to the new Palmetto Ridge High in the Estates. Its
closer to her house.

CONSULTING AN ETHICAL GRAY AREA FOR SUPERINTENDENTS
They work long hours under hot spotlights. They answer to boards, parents and
the public. They get paid $150,000 to $200,000 a year. And many of them
moonlight. They are public schools superintendents and their off-the-clock
consulting endeavors are drawing the attention of critics. Particularly, their

ENVIRONMENTALISTS: MARCO PATH REALLY NOT FOR THE BIRDS
Shorebirds and beachgoers could be on a collision course at a Marco Island

from expanding one garage and adding another and maybe even a new name. The
Centers center, facing U.S. 41, is the epicenter for change.

visiting as Election Day approached. This rapidly growing place north of Tampa,
where shopping centers, road extensions and subdivisions open by the month,
