Ron,
It is strange that is works fine for several weeks then starts failing. The eventual failure is preceeded by trouble maintaining steps then finally a lockup and burned drive. I have the accel and rapid speed actually backed down and still had the problem. There is a capacitor at the drive as recommended by Mariss from Geckodrives. I guess I could buy another Gecko and turn down the accel and rapid speed as you suggest and see if it happens again. What also is strange is that the fuse in the circuit did not blow. It is a delay type fuse. Should I switch to a different type of fuse? Your setup is working save the occasional drive problem. Can you possibly limit the current on that one drive for holding torque? You said it was during a move so, maybe turn down the velocity and acceleration in Mach2 axis configuration for "Y"?. It's probable that some fine tuning might eliminate future problems. If it works one month it should work many months. I lost a Gecko 320 last week and it was because the current coming into the shop was surging for a few days. Many on here said if I'd had a capacitor on the leads coming from the power supply right at the drive it would probably not have blown. Possibly this is your issue as well? > > > Ron > > Keith Clark <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > Well, the y axis gecko drive burned again this morning. This time > there are no loose wires.
