When I got my F-27 (hull #14) much of the non skid had been burned off
from years of tropical sun in Guam. I repainted all of the non-skid
surface in 2-part polyurethane paint and broadcast (sprinkled or threw)
the non-skid grit. That was three years ago and it is holding up great.
The new two part paints are as tough as Chinese algebra and easy to
apply. Surface prep was simply sanding old surface and cleaning with
solvent.
Check out different grits as some have too much grip and tend to be
tough on knees and feet. I used a white grit from a marine paint company
whose name I can't remember right now.
That being said, I understand that many F-boats have a nonskid that is
textured into the surface. If yours is like that then, perhaps, painting
will not look as nice as the original. Mine had a painted light gray
non-skid surface originally. So other than the fact that my
"broadcasting" was not as uniform as the original, it didn't conflict
with a texture gelcoat surface.

Subject: F-27 Non skid paint
Hi All:
Now that I am the proud owner of F-27 (Hull # 126) I have a zillion
maintenance questions to help me get the boat into shape.
For starters, has anyone re-painted the non-skid surfaces? I would like
to
know what is the best paint to use on this surface and the best way to
prep
this surface for application.
Thanks
