Patil shot his mouth off and killed PM�s J&K visit
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh�s much-awaited trip to Jammu & Kashmir, scheduled
for November 17-18, has been postponed again with political temperatures rising
in the Valley after Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil�s visit to Srinagar last
Saturday. It is understood that the decision was taken on Monday after it
became evident to the official Kashmir interlocutors that the Hurriyat
separatists would stay away from the Prime Minister�s visit.

Not helping matters is Army rape case; biggest blow, says Mehbooba
People's Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti today said that the alleged
rape of a mother and her 10-year-old daughter by an Army officer was the

Mirage goes down again, No. 4 in last two months
An IAF Mirage 2000 fighter caught fire and crashed tonight in the forests of
Barsota, 75 km from Gwalior, some 20 minutes after take-off. The pilot was
believed to have ejected safely. It was the fourth Mirage to go down in two
months.

Court said assess farmers� minds, govt uses little of its own
Seated on the floor of a sparse panchayat hall in a remote tehsil of Yavatmal,
a group of about 35 villagers is all ears to a team of psychiatrists. The
subject: the psychology of suicide. Organised at the behest of the Bombay High
Court, it�s one of 17 camps being held in drought-ravaged Vidarbha, in areas
which have seen the maximum farmer suicides.
