There are two major "glowing" organisms in So. Calif. waters :
The nocta-luca (sp?) ("night light") which one notices as individual
sparkles in the water.......like tiny fireflies or walt disney "fairy dust"
and the much smaller "red tide" dinoflagellate, which colors the water
red-brown and carries a neuro-toxin and is responsible for paralytic
shellfish poisoning.
