They wear patriotic jewelry and hang flags in their yards, and the stories they can tell about when they were younger go far beyond the first meals they cooked or the first dates they had. Their antique rings sparkle as they flip pages of worn albums, where the young women they once were smile gracefully on paper, standing proudly in their military uniforms, next to their military friends. LELY STUDENTS TO GET ANOTHER SHOT AT TEST In a rare opportunity, Lely High School juniors will get another shot at the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program. Last month, 196 juniors were handicapped by a poorly lit and cold auditorium, along with disruptions from some of their peers. Collier County school officials apologized for the disruptions and petitioned to have the students take the test again under better conditions. JUDGE DISMISSES BIASELLA SUIT AGAINST COUNCIL TRIO Naples Councilwoman Penny Taylor and two former councilmen are off the legal hook, for now. "This is good news for the city," City Attorney Bob Pritt said Wednesday, the day U.S. District Court Judge John E. Steele released his 10-page opinion. RESTAURANT, CITY AT ODDS OVER OUTDOOR SEATING With Fifth Avenue South space at a premium, outdoor seating is on the top of every restaurateur's wish list. The savings estimate listed on Amendment 6 at the polls this year was $20 billion to $25 billion. TV ads for the defeat of a vaguely defined rail network serving metro areas indicated schools and hurricane repairs as well as roads would stand to gain. The wide-ranging talk continues even after the votes have been counted. But the building didn't collapse. Instead, the developer Parkland Development Corp. and the contractor Current Builders decide to demolish it. Bellagio is on the east side of Livingston Road and south of Pine Ridge Road. Another indisputable fact: the juror had a hard time saying no. "The initial shock may turn you off," admitted Jack O'Brien, the von Liebig's hard-working, never-complaining curatorial assistant who oversaw the show, "but you come away with a better feeling on examining the work at close range."
