yep, i tried reinstalling, still the same. could it be 
that i installed service pack 6 under Windows 98 ? 

and also any idea about package and deployment, im having problems with that
too, but it's on another PC.

Reinstall vb6 and make sure you have the latest service pack.
Components have a way of becoming corrupted. Go figure...
