BONITA VFW DEDICATES FLAG TO WORLD WAR II VETERAN
Rose Mansell shook as if caught by a sudden icy breeze Thursday when local
veterans dedicated a flag in her husbands honor just five months after his
death. Standing in the hot sun with a balled-up tissue clenched tightly in her
tiny hand, Mansell spoke with pride of Max Mansells World War II combat on the
beaches of Normandy and in the Battle of the Bulge. Members of Bonita Springs
VFW Post 303 marked Veterans Day with a special service dedicating yet another
flag to their fallen brother, destined one day to stand in the almost 90-flag
Aisle of Flags.

REZONING SOUGHT FOR TWO NEW BONITA COMMUNITIES
A Naples developer is proposing to build 2,100 homes and condominium units on a
swath of eastern Bonita Springs that is almost completely surrounded by
environmentally sensitive lands. The Ronto Group has submitted two applications
in the past three weeks to Lee County planners, asking to rezone about 800
acres to allow for the construction of a pair of communities. Long home to
tomato fields, the land is 3 and 1/2 miles east of Interstate 75 and south of
Bonita Beach Road.

GUADALUPE CENTER BREAKS GROUND FOR EXPANSION
They sat four to a table, breaking bread from a bowl at the center of a
plastic, plaid-patterned cloth bookended by pitchers of cola and orange soda.
Each sat before a tray adorned with fruit, three glazed doughnut holes and a
steaming bowl of soup. The din echoing throughout the dining hall and an
intermittent fall cross-breeze fluttering flimsy white window curtains conjured
a community gathering, perhaps a lazily lived fall weekend lunch among
neighbors. The faces told a different story, though.

ESTERO LEADERS JOIN TO REVIEW UNIVERSITY, COMMUNITY, REAL ESTATE PARTNERSHIP
Estero has come a long way from the first development that sold a minimum of
1,000-square-foot homes on the waterfront for $2,500 with $20 down. Whats made
this possible is collaboration, cooperation and partnership, according to
community leaders, a university official and those in the real estate industry.
All three came together Thursday night to talk about Estero, A Village With A
Vision, at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point during the annual Estero Real Estate
Review.

IN PERSPECTIVE:
GEORGE WILL: POST-ELECTION ROUNDUP
In 2000, Americans were reminded that electoral votes select presidents. In
2004, Democrats were reminded that Bruce Springsteen does not. Other Nov. 2
epiphanies include: In 1984, Walter Mondales running mate was Rep. Geraldine
Ferraro, a Catholic woman from New York. Ronald Reagan carried Catholics,
women, New York and even Ferraros district.

WOUNDED IRAQ VET JOINS IN DEDICATION OF PANHANDLE MEMORIAL
A steady downpour did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of Dustin Tuller, who
lost both legs in Iraq, at a Veterans Day ceremony to dedicate a memorial plaza
for all who have served in the nations military. Medically retired from the
Florida National Guard but still with a close-cropped military haircut, Tuller
was back in the Panhandle after competing in the New York City Marathon.
