the slabs are not necessarily a big draw to hippies.

well, i disagree with the first part of your
statement. if a person does not respect and care for
the planet, i don't consider them a hippie. i've been
to Rainbow Gatherings, the mother of all hippiefests,
and these sites, which are always in National Forests,
are kept so clean the local Forest Service personnel
always heap praise upon the participants afterwards.
i challenge anyone to name any "straight" festival
with upwards of 25,000 attendees where the people who
participate are so conscious of removing all traces of
their visit. Burning Man does this, but that's partly
because the BLM would revoke their permit if they
didn't. hippies actually BELIEVE it's their
responsibility to honor and protect the land. unlike,
say, state fairgoers or NASCAR fans, based on my
experience.

as for the Slabs, no it doesn't sound like a place
hippies would be attracted to. at least not this
hippie (me), although that's mostly because i don't
like crowds (except for an occasional gathering).

but i do like picking up litter, and always carry
tools and bags to do so. i may check out the Slabs
this year, out of curiosity. i would be glad to walk
around and fill trash bags, if someone with a pickup
would take them to a landfill. although it sounds
like there's so much large junk that i wouldn't be
able to make much of a dent. anybody here know if
such an task is even possible?

Everyone else participating in this discussion, the
sub-discussions, and the sub-discussions have been
using their christian names.

oh, you mean like "Coalbunny" and "Possum?"

heehee.

i've never used a "Christian" name (whatever that
means - sounds kinda exclusivist) on the internet, and
you may find out that you'd rather you hadn't some
day. others have told me they regretted it, not
because of any illegal activity on their part, but
because of spam and identity theft. YMMV, good luck!
