I attended a political meeting at Niland last winter. The Oasis had a
representative group of high class people and we met with a State man. He said
The Slabs belong to the State of California. They would like to put some
amenities there but would need to find a way to make
it self supporting. Plan of choice was to put in a nice campground with
hookups for those that wanted and it would earn enough to pay a person on site
to care for it. They said never would they eliminate an area for free
Boondocking. That was last Spring.

well you thought wrong. if it just took 500,000 dollars the owner would have
done it. But it would take much more money than that. The owner would have
to remove all the underground sewer etc.
