gnat binarys for PowerPC AIX5.1 - all new
----------------------------------
Hello *, I want to bootstrap the latest gcc, including the Ada compiler on my
old RS6000 Workstation running AIX5.1. Unfortunatly the latest gnat binary
distribution I found on the Net is gnat-3.12p-powerpc-ibm-aix4.1.4.0 which
doesn't work under AIX 5.1 (collect2: /usr/lib/libc.a: not an import library).
This is for sparetime Free Software stuff, so buying from ACT is not an option.
Any help would be highly appreciated. cheers sascha... - Fri, Nov 12

Plugins/Dynamic Libraries - 2 new
----------------------------------
... you're right, COM is not equivalent to corba, but DCOM is. but i would not
say COM are preferable to dll most of the time. COM adds some (somewhat big)
overhead which may not be interresting. one thing to notice: coding plugins
is ONLY a matter of interface. COM defines a standard interface, but you are
free to use yours. i already worked on a small project involving plugins in C:
a software that was adding funny movements to your mouse. each kind of
movement was implemented in a standard dll, loaded dynamically at runtime.

... If "big enough" should be a requirement, then what is "enough"? ... Well,
this not ADT, this is not even typed. Like in FORTRAN-IV where everything was
