..and you only get this in the north? Its been a feature of almost all 
the canal trips I've taken since 1974 ;-)

We operate a thing called British Bream Time in our family which is like 
lock-miles but randomly slower by 50-100 percent. Getting "there" never 
seems to end up very high on the priority list as the various 
distractions come along. I reckon that its part of the fun not knowing 
where you'll actually end up :-)
