I hope you will forgive me asking this, but my friend Linda needs some
help with a boaty problem. Linda's partner, Dave Bryant, died last year
and she is left with his little boat (Ursa Minor) to dispose of. She was
going to give it to a family member, but he no longer wants it and while
she has a possible buyer for it, she has no idea what it is worth.
The boat is a 17-foot Microplus plastic cruiser (so most of you will
have lost interest already) with a Honda 100 (I think) outboard engine
and a trailer. Linda was not too sure about the power of the outboard
(she said 100hp at first, but I thought that unlikely!). Maybe it is
10hp, I seem to remember it is quite powerful for an outboard. I don't
know exactly how old the boat is, maybe 1980s. Dave kept it in quite
good condition, although it has been unused for a couple of years so
needs a good clean, which Linda is taking care of.
I realise that all this is a bit vague, but Linda is just looking for a
ball-park figure as a starting point. £1000? - £2000? probably not as
much as £5000, unless I am sadly out of touch with the collectability of
the Microplus!
Anyone care to hazard a guess? - or, if not, to recommend someone
suitably qualified to put a value on it?
Thanks for any help
