It depends what network the people you'll be calling are on. Virgin is 35p/min for calls to other mobile networks (according to the Tesco website).
Tesco mobile PAYG is 10p/min for all calls if you top up GBP15 per month. If you have an unlocked phone, you can buy a Tesco mobile extra sim card for GBP4.47, giving you 150 mins of calls for less than 20 quid. See http://www.tescophones.com/sim-only
