I rather enjoyed the Westbridge Arm and, a few years ago made it to the winding hole.  Really clear water as well, so clear in fact that I could see the shiney supermarket trolley just behind my stern.  Being very public spirited I thought 'This cost them a lot of money I should return it whence it came'.  I felt they seemed a little ungrateful when I took it back.  I ask myself was it the waterweed wrapped around the trolley or just that it dripped on their carpet.  I'll never really know.  At that point I made my excuses and left quietly.

This time - there was! As you probably know you were lucky to get through as
some boats had to wait until the next day.

All true - all though I missed the clean up this year!

The Westbridge itself is not legally navigable, as far as we can make out,
as it was omitted from the Anglian Water acts which extinguished the
original River Nene Navigation Act. EA don't accept any responsibility for
it in respect of navigation, but generally will maintain navigation to the
winding hole.
