Been there, done that! On the Gayton moorings on the GU (in the days when
tying to the piling was a strict no-no) we could get one end of the boat on
a ring, but the other end was tied to a 6 foot scaff pole, knocked about 4
feet in. Even that got pulled out! The banks are composed mainly of old
dredgings which won't hold anything.
