year, due to a combination of weather and road closures - the latter didn;t
affect me as I live the "right" side of Crick and was coming from that side
anyway. They did cause a lot of problems for some people - I think it
improved once they managed to get some signage up. It had been hoped
eveything would be back to normal on the Monday but I gather the fire flared
up again.
Whilst the rain and ground conditions may not have affected the visitors too
much they caused major headaches for exhibitors! The IWA stand on Friday was
under about 3 inches of water at one point. The cure was a pile of ballast
and a shovel! Once spread it kept the ground just about OK, but there was a
strong smell, variosuly attributed to the beach the ballast came from or cow
p**!
The exhibitor car parking was also a major problem - only 4x4s were getting
off part of it, even my Citroen needed a quick push to get going so you can
imagine the problems some of the wagons were having!
Other problem was that evreything is covered in mud now, so we're goign to
have to do a lot of cleaning up before the next show (I'll also need to wah
the car, clean my shoes, etc.)
On the plus side IWA did very well for sales on the first couple of days,
and not too bad on Monday (when I was there). I even managed to sell a full
set of Nicholsons to Mary Arkless! I saw some members of the lists, George a
few times, Bob Wood, Martin Ludgate but missed a few others. I did get a
look round the show, didn't buy much though (except a bottle of dry
scrumpy). I too got a bit confused by the new layout - and never actually
got the chance to go to the bar!
