NO an English barge! :-) I don't really want an old barge, and everything I have seen SH has been somewhat naff. It would certainly be sub 20m to avoid Eurogrief. We don't really need the space, so will probably limit it to 60ft x 12ft 6ins, so it will cross the L&L and do all Ireland. I will probably end up going to the reformed R&D, with a Woodworks fit out, simply because I know their work / all the people concerned. Their surveyor/yot designer will probably base my barge on a shortened "Final Fling" or a lengthened "Cedar" (56ft) but with a bigger wheel house (hardwood) and a small engine room cabin behind, so I can get all the messy stuff in there. I am toying with a novel hydraulic drive system, with hydraulic bowthruster, anchor winch and maybe crane with two engines (90hpish and 30hpish) feeding the system, the smaller engine providing extra power for serious stuff and to power a 8kva 220v geny when stationary. This way I can avoid the pitfalls of an underused and prone to glazing 6 cylinder engine. Cat B so it can safely get across Irish Sea. http://www.tuesdaynightclub.co.uk/Stuffimages/Cedar.jpg http://www.tuesdaynightclub.co.uk/Stuffimages/Cedar2.jpg http://www.tuesdaynightclub.co.uk/Stuffimages/FinalFling1.jpg http://www.tuesdaynightclub.co.uk/Stuffimages/FinalFling2.jpg http://www.tuesdaynightclub.co.uk/Stuffimages/FinalFling3.jpg http://www.tuesdaynightclub.co.uk/Stuffimages/FinalFling4.jpg I don't really have to / want to sell Earnest, but it will now get little use, so in reality it would be better going to a good home; to someone that wants to be self sufficient and go just that little bit further. If anyone is genuinely interested, then perhaps they could contact me off list. There are still all the Earnest build pages up at: http://www.tuesdaynightclub.co.uk/earnest/index.html -- Neil Arlidge - NB Earnest / MV Maurice A in the next 2-3 years.
