Suggestions re Marple to Manchester.Moor overnight at the museum in Ashton,this is a locked site and you will possibly have to moor alongside another boat. Leave at first light for Fairfield top lock on the Ashton and work your way down towards Manchester with a bit of luck you will be in Manchester before the villains have surfaced from their slumbers. If possible work down the Rochdale nine with another boat it makes for an easier trip.Good moorings in the Castlefield basin area.The Bridgewater is OK once past Altrincham (south) Worsley (north).Other good moorings on this stretch are bottom Marple locks.Top of Rochdale nine on locked wharf. Going in the other direction we had no problems last year mooring at the top of the nine,early start,Marple bottom. Have a good trip. Chris.KP.
