A couple more species which might become more common with warmer summers 
(they are migrants).

Purple Heron - darker and more angular than the Grey.
Little Bittern - Moorhen-sized and buffy with dark wings and tail (not 
streaked like the Bittern).
Both are reedbed specialists so might occur on overgrown banks - they 
are present in the near Continent but only vagrants in the UK at 
present.
